History
History of Rotary
Rotary began in 1905 in Chicago, started by Paul Harris and three friends. They wanted to create a club where professionals could meet, build friendships, and help their community. The name “Rotary” came from the group’s early habit of rotating meetings between members’ offices. Over time, Rotary grew into an international organization. Today, Rotary has clubs in over 200 countries. Its members work on important issues like health, education, clean water, and peace. One of Rotary’s biggest achievements is helping to fight polio worldwide. Rotary’s mission is “Service Above Self,” guiding members to do good everywhere.
